Who we are
RegPeek is operated by Yacer Abdelaziz Yacine Bouchema, a sole trader trading as "RegPeek". We are the data controller for the personal data described in this notice, which means we decide why and how it is processed. You can contact us at support@regpeek.co.uk.
Registration searches
When you press Check Vehicle, the registration you enter is sent from our server to a third-party vehicle data provider so it can return the vehicle record and MOT history. That provider may source its information from DVLA and DVSA records. RegPeek does not permanently store the registrations you search for or the vehicle results returned to you; they are held only for as long as it takes to display them in your browser.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in providing the vehicle lookup you requested, and performance of our contract with you where the search forms part of a paid report.
Abuse prevention
To stop automated misuse, we limit how many searches can be made from one connection. To do this we create a salted, one-way hash of your IP address and record the time of each search. We do not store your IP address itself, and the hash cannot be reversed back into an address. These records are used only for rate limiting.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and available.
Purchases and payments
RegPeek has no user accounts or sign-ups. When you buy the Full Vehicle History Check (£5.99, one-off), payment is taken through Stripe. Stripe collects and processes your card, billing and contact details directly. RegPeek never receives or stores your full card number, and we only see limited payment information such as the payment status, payment reference and, where provided, the country and email used at checkout.
To deliver a purchased report and let you restore it later, we store the registration searched, the payment status and reference, an unlock token held in your browser, and the purchased report content itself. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you, and our legitimate interest in restoring access to reports you have paid for.
We do not build marketing profiles, sell data or run advertising trackers.
Who we share data with
We share data only with: our vehicle data provider (to return your search results); our hosting and database providers (to run the site); Stripe (to take and manage payments); professional advisers such as accountants and lawyers; and authorities where we are legally required to do so. Some of these providers are outside the UK/EEA, in which case transfers are protected by UK or EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
Retention
Rate-limiting records (hashed IP plus timestamp) are kept for up to 24 hours. Free search queries and their results are not retained after the response is delivered. Purchase records (registration, payment status and reference, unlock token) and the purchased report are kept so you can restore your report, and for as long as we need them to meet tax and accounting obligations. Data is deleted or anonymised once it is no longer needed.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or port your personal data, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on it. Email us and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), server-side handling of all provider API credentials, salted one-way hashing of IP addresses, and restricted database access controls.
Cookies
We use only essential browser storage needed to run the site and to remember reports you have unlocked in this browser. Stripe may set its own cookies during checkout to process payments and prevent fraud. We do not use analytics or marketing cookies. You can clear this storage in your browser settings at any time, but doing so may remove access to a report unlocked in that browser.
